I fast quite often in a years time. In my bibical studies, the early church in the time frame according to the book of acts would fast at twice a week. This was actually done to capture more of the insites and information from God's world more than the present one they lived in. So they would fast at least twice a week to stay spirtually in tune by giving up and sacrificing something in this world to get something from and more from another.
